Deep fried, Korean Corn Dogs (pictured above) are set to follow in the footsteps of kimchi, bibimbap and gochujang onto the UK menu, they are made using sweetened rice flour batter as a coating for hot dogs, fish, mozzarella, and rice cakes, and then typically topped with ketchup, mayo or mustard and sugar.

Hot Honey has been big in the US for a few years, and now the UK is getting a taste for it too. The product has been launched into the UK as a kind of Indie brand such as Dr Stings Hot Honey which sells out like Glastonbury concert tickets, as a condiment for everything such as pizza to fried chicken. The hot honey buzz is set to continue this year as it has now been taken on by Ocado and even Fortnum & Mason which offers a smoked chipotle version.

Healthy alternatives are always trending, so far this year plant-based food, sugar free, low fat, fresh juices, salads, and caffeine alternatives are on the rise in the UK, although the price of the healthy alternative by and large across the board, does not influence the in-store shopper decisions nearly enough. A 1L bottle of original coca cola costing £1.60 from Asda, a 1L bottle of Evian natural mineral water costing £1.20 or a shocking £1.65 for a 1L bottle of San Pellegrino Sparkling Mineral Water! 

For those looking to reduce their caffeine intake, chicory drinks are becoming a popular substitute, thanks to the root’s bitter, earthy notes, with brands like Chicory Cup and The Chicory Company selling it in powdered form. Whole Earth, meanwhile, offers a couple of chicory-and-barley blend coffee alternatives. For those who love the ritual of making ‘proper’ coffee, there are also a number of zero-caffeine products that can be brewed in the traditional way.
